Exotic plants
It’s interesting to notice how Costa Rica has all the right conditions for the adaptation of plants imported into the country (exotic plants) coming from such a variety of different climates. And these exotic plants adapt to Costa Rica’s tropical conditions, in such a way that they develop into a new form of tropical plant. It’s a fact that Costa Rica is a bridge for the passing of different tropical species from North and South America.![]()

Tropical plants
The Tropical plant group has a large variety of short duration flowering species and garden species, which Costa Rican families have been decorating their yards with for many years. Some of the common species are the Heleconias, Ornamental Banana, Ginger, Calatheas, and we could name about a thousand more that are all of great appreciation. From the tropical group of Heleconias, we can find the Caribaeas, Shonguns, Erectus, hanging, Lisas, Peludas, Miniatures, mediums, big, huge, of hundreds of colors and shapes, for sun or for shade, etc. One of the special of having Heleconias in the garden is that they become a feeding ground for other life forms, such as Humming birds, birds, and butterflies, which arrive to the plants for food, nectar, and water.
